Does Permanence Matter? Ephemeral Urbanism

13. September 2017, 6:00 pm

The lecture presents the results of the research project on Ephemeral Cities developed by Prof. Rahul Mehrotra and Felipe Vera at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. The study is focused on temporary structures built, for festivals, markets, gatherings, often for enormous crowds around the world. These ephemeral settlements serve a variety of functions and purposes: religious, economic, social or political events. Yet, they all share the same expectation: an expiration date.
